The Laments in the Abyss Arrive
Today, Sunday, November 10, 2024, marks the release of the fifth installment of the fifth series Chaos and Darkness, titled Laments in the Abyss.
This work is, without a doubt, one of the most disturbing entries in the Continuus Nexus saga to date. Its pages are steeped in extreme violence, exploring the horrors of abuse, suicide, mass genocides, and all manner of situations that shatter the sanity of its protagonists. It is not a read for the faint of heart.
This is yet another step along the dark path that Tolmarher has carved, distancing itself from its previous work, The Purity, to fully immerse us in the absolute darkness that is Chaos and Darkness, moving ever closer to the Infernal Conjunction—a destiny now openly referenced by the characters within and beyond the space-time continuum of Eternum.
The Purity was merely the prelude, an introduction to the galactic stage and its ties to the lines of Black Sun, Aqueron, and The Red Messiah. Now, with the worldbuilding solidified, The Purity stands as just one layer upon which the towering structure of Chaos and Darkness continues to build, becoming ever darker and more turbulent.
If you have yet to traverse this abyss, be warned… because we are entering spoiler territory.
We have already witnessed the deaths of several key characters from The Purity, including Dave, Sinuhé, and even the Heretic Inquisitor Samael. Now, things are turning even grimmer, and it is likely that they will not be the last to fall. In a cliffhanger that stretches across the story, nothing can be taken for granted.
